Building Hope, One Play at a Time

In Sacramento, thousands of refugee kids arrive carrying the weight of war, displacement, and uncertainty. For many, finding a place to belong feels impossible.

That’s where Capital Community Athletics (CCA) comes in. Through soccer, cricket, and other sport events and programs, we create safe, welcoming spaces where kids are seen, encouraged, and celebrated. Coaches, mentors, and volunteers walk alongside them—not just on the field, but in life—building friendships, hope, and a true sense of belonging.

Today, CCA is serving 200+ kids across the Sacramento area—but 140 more are still waiting for a chance to join a team!

With 9 active teams—including girls and boys’ recreational and competitive soccer, and a cricket team—and 70+ dedicated volunteers, this community is growing every day.

At CCA, every game, every practice, every cheer is a step toward hope and belonging.

Giving Activity

Mission

CCA uses sport to create a welcoming community and place of belonging for our neighbors from around the world and across the street as we play, coach, cheer and volunteer.

Needs

We’re always looking for ways to grow our impact and welcome more kids into our community. Here’s how you can help:

· Unrestricted Funds – These gifts give us the flexibility to subsidize costs for low-income players, expand our teams, and strengthen our programs and ministries.

· Coaches & Event Volunteers – Share your time and talents! Whether on the field or at events, volunteers help create a safe, welcoming space where every child belongs.

· Soccer & Cricket Equipment – In-kind donations of balls, nets, bats, and gear go a long way in supporting our programs.

· Board Members – We’re seeking two passionate individuals to join our board and help guide our mission forward.

Every gift, hour, and resource helps create a stronger, more welcoming community for refugee youth.

Equity Statement

At CCA, we believe every person is created with inherent dignity, value, and made in God's image. We are committed to fostering a community where individuals and families from all backgrounds, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, language, gender, age, or socioeconomic circumstance, are welcomed, respected, and given equitable access to opportunity.

Because many of those we serve have experienced displacement, trauma, and systemic barriers, we intentionally work to remove obstacles that limit participation and belonging. We strive to create programs, partnerships, and spaces that reflect fairness, cultural humility, and mutual respect.
