Join Amy Abramson in supporting MOW Yolo on BDOG!

Greetings Friends! Big Day of Giving is upon us and I'm asking you to include Meals on Wheels Yolo County (MOW Yolo) in your BDOG philanthropy. For the last year and a half, I have had the honor of serving on the MOW Yolo Board. It is because of the organization's mission, vision and values that I choose to support MOW Yolo with my time and my financial support.

MOW Yolo has served local seniors in need of nutritional support for nearly 50 years.  Today, MOW Yolo nourishes more than 1,000 food insecure, isolated seniors countywide, and is the only provider in Yolo County of predictable, regularly scheduled, fully prepared and ready-to-eat meals for seniors. The program now produces and delivers 20,000 meals each month - a 40% increase over the past year.  Pretty impressive!

But we can do better because we know that we are still serving less than 12% of the senior population estimated to be food insecure in Yolo County. Our goal is to nourish thousands more seniors in need of consistent nutrition and social contact.  If you've been following MOW Yolo in the news, you know that in addition to our central kitchen in Woodland, we recently received the final permit to open our second kitchen facility in Winters. 

Your support on this Big Day of Giving is the link that connects MOW Yolo's actions with healthier outcomes for vulnerable, isolated aging adults in our community. Yolo County thrives only when all residents are nourished, especially our elders.

Every $50 provides a vulnerable Yolo County senior citizen or mobility-limited resident with five hot and frozen healthy meals for a week. How many seniors will you assist, for how many weeks? At $2,500, you've nourished a local senior for a year!
