The EGEEO Foundation was created in 2002 by the Eta Gamma Omega Chapter. It was created pursuant to the non-profit provisions of the California Corporation Code. In September 2009, the Foundation strengthened its ability to serve the greater Sacramento area by applying for and receiving a determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service, recognizing EGEEO Foundation, Incorporated (Foundation) as a tax-exempt organization pursuant to Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). This exempt status allows the Foundation to expand its goal of providing service to all mankind by creating partnerships with civic organizations, community-based organizations and leaders.

The purposes for which this Foundation is organized is to provide educational assistance and charitable services to residents of the city and county of Sacramento, by providing direct assistance to individuals seeking higher education and/or charitable assistance services as well as funding support to not-for-profit organizations. These purposes are achieved by meeting financial needs through grant underwritings, scholarship offerings and direct charitable assistance services and programs to families, individuals, and not-for-profit organizations. The Foundation develops and sponsors direct service programs and will partner with community-based organizations that have similar purposes, to strengthen its purposes and meet its goals. These direct service programs promote self-reliance, self-empowerment, and self-sufficiency.

Mission

The Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life for residents of Sacramento and its surrounding communities by establishing pathways, advocating for positive change and raising funds to provide service and support to organizations serving our target communities and providing direct services to individuals residing in our target areas. Through the utilization of our established pathways, the disparities in education, health, and economics will decrease.

Needs

Health and Economic Fitness Forums:

Funding is needed to continue providing The Health and Economic Fitness Forum. Due to our current restricted environment , we hosted a virtual event during the week of November 11-14, 2020. Over seventy-five individuals attended the events, held during the four day period. These informational forums consisted of four virtual events, over a four day period, including three (3) evenings and one (1) Saturday. During each event, community members were advised by experts in their fields, in an interactive setting, about best practices with respect to healthy living, Alzheimer awareness and money management.

Additional funding will allow us to continue to produce public service announcements and advertisements for our forums and workshops; create and develop leaflets, brochures and flyers for distribution to the target communities, including students, the at-risk community members and the elderly who will benefit from our programs. Additional funding will also allow us to expand the Health and Economic Fair by enabling us to hold multiple forums on Health and Economic Fitness, when we return from the virtual settings to 'in-person' settings. We hope to continue to provide these experts in the pivotal in-person settings to provide answers to specific issues raised by community participants. Additional funds will enable us to send physical items to those who preregister.

EGEEO Foundation's College Preparation - Application and Admission Process Program (EFCP/AAPP):

The Foundation is seeking donations to expand and enhance our EGEEO Foundation College Preparation - Application and Admission Process Program. This Program consists of workshops, scheduled during the spring and fall, for high school juniors (spring) and seniors (fall) which provide assistance to high school juniors and seniors in the completion of their college admission applications, SAT/ACT test preparation, essay writing, research on colleges and universities, careers and financial aid, including scholarships. In 2020, we hosted both in-person and virtual workshops. We will continue with the virtual workshops until our environment safely allows otherwise.

Additional funds will enable us to increase the total number of students served each year. The goal is to continue to increase the numbers participating. In 2019-2020, we had over one hundred (130) students. With a limitation to providing our workshops virtually, beginning March of 2020, we were limited in our sessions. Additional funds will enable us to provide additional materials and supplies, including a copy of the Ultimate Scholarship Resource book for each student, snacks for each of the 25 workshop sessions provided. Currently, there are two (2) sessions and four (4) workshops per session, for a total of sixteen workshop sessions. Each session is 90 minutes long. The additional funding will enable us to provide additional materials and supplies, including a copy of the Ultimate Scholarship Resource book for each student. Additional funds will also enable us to conduct an end of year graduation program, recognizing the students who complete the Program.

Scholarship Program:

Currently, the Scholarship Program is funded by donations and fundraisers conducted by the Foundation with community partners. There are also special scholarships funded by Foundation members and friends of the Foundation. These scholarships are granted on a one time basis.

The continuous need for outside funding is great because the community's need is great. The 21st Century donors and recipients know that a college degree is essential. Getting into college, paying for college, and graduating from college are more difficult today than ever before and almost impossible if your income is low. The EGEEO Foundation wants to undertake the challenge of making a college education available to the young people of the Sacramento community. Your generous donation to this effort will enhance our ability to ensure that the scholarship program is continued and that the scholarship amounts are increased.

The EGEEO Foundation, Inc. is an all volunteer organization dedicated to providing services and outreach for the greater Sacramento area residents by providing educational assistance to those seeking higher education through grants and scholarship offerings and educational forums and workshops that address the needs of community residents, that, if met, will decrease disparities in education, health and economics and will promote self-reliance, self-sufficiency, and self-empowerment.

The Foundation has a need for unrestricted funds that will enable us to expand programs and services that are not funded by dedicated or restricted funds and will enable us to enhance our outreach and further ensure optimal participation in our various programs and events.

The Foundation currently uses donated space at the Eta Gamma Omega Community House, for Administrative purposes, Board meetings and Foundation meetings. While we are currently in a Virtual environment, we hope to return to an in-person environment in the near future. With that, we will need to enhance our physical space to allow the programs and services. We are seeking additional funding and/or in-kind donations to provide permanent space for Foundation events and workshops. Additional funding will also allow us to lease sufficient space and do necessary enhancements and modifications to the space that will enable the Foundation to create a physical environment that will allow us to sustain our many activities in a consistent and efficient manner.

With additional funding, the Foundation will not only be able to increase our outreach to further ensure that the target communities are aware of the services and programs provided but also sustain those activities.

It is the Foundation's goal to segregate and maintain its financial records to ensure that they are maintained in a discreet and confidential manner. To achieve this goal, the Foundation is seeking additional funding to acquire computer hardware and software to facilitate the maintenance of its financial records. The computers will also be used to facilitate the training of Board members and Foundation committee members and will also be used to facilitate the community workshops and forums, once we return from virtual to in person activities.
