15% of domestic violence victims are male
Teens 16-19 are the most likely to be sexually assaulted
Incorporated in Sacramento in 1978, WEAVE provides comprehensive services to survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and stalking and builds knowledge through high-quality education and training programs. WEAVE knows that ending violence takes the whole community working together. When everyone acts, violence ends.
WEAVE provides an array of survivor-centered and trauma-informed services designed to respond to the needs of survivors and works to ensure its programs are culturally responsive. This includes actively integrating Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) into all services and building multiple pathways to seeking help. Services include:
- 24/7 Support & Information Line and Online Chat;
- WEAVE receives more than 10,000 calls to its 24/7 Support Line and online chat each year. WEAVE relies on donations to fund these services as well as trained volunteers to respond to calls.
- 24/7 Sexual Assault Response Team;
- Emergency Safehouse Program; Transitional Housing Program; and Permanent Supportive Housing Program;
- WEAVE must raise at least $250,000 in community support to operate its emergency Safehouse and Transitional Housing programs. These funds ensure a safe infrastructure and 24-hour staffing for the two confidential locations as well as comprehensive supportive services.
- Trauma-informed individual therapeutic and psychoeducational group counseling;
- Currently, WEAVE must limit the number of free individual counseling sessions due to lack of funding. Donations to the counseling program are immediately invested in expanded access to therapeutic counseling that provides survivors with coping techniques and helps them heal from trauma.
- Attorney-provided legal assistance for family law matters, civil law options for survivors of sexual assault, and vacatur petitions for victims of sex trafficking;
- Demand for family law legal assistance skyrocketed during the pandemic and remains at unprecedented levels. Funds raised allow WEAVE to provide legal support to the most vulnerable victims at the greatest risk of serious harm at no cost to them.
Embedded advocates and counselors working with five area law enforcement agencies; Dignity Health Medical Safe Haven for sex trafficking survivors; Family Resource Centers, CSU Sacramento, Los Rios Community College District, Sacramento County Child Protective Services, Sacramento County Adult Protective Services, Sacramento City Unified School District and others; and community and school-based prevention education programs.
