Disasters don’t affect everyone equally. For many in our region, a wildfire, flood, or extreme heatwave isn’t just a challenge—it’s a life-threatening emergency made worse by a lack of resources or information.

At the St. Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council, we believe that safety is a right, not a privilege. Through our Listos program, we provide culturally competent outreach and life-saving tools to the most vulnerable members of our community, including:

• Older adults who may live alone or have limited mobility.

• Individuals with disabilities who require specialized evacuation plans.

• Low-income families who cannot afford the upfront costs of emergency supplies.

• Neighbors with language barriers who often miss critical alerts and instructions.

• Medical Document Organizers: Waterproof, fire-resistant pouches to keep prescriptions, medical histories, and "trusted ally" contact lists secure and ready to grab.

• N95 Masks & Air Filtration: Critical for neighbors with respiratory issues, especially during the wildfire seasons that increasingly impact our region.

• High-Decibel Whistles: A simple but vital tool for seniors or individuals with limited mobility to signal for help if they become trapped or separated.

• Personal Cooling Kits: Including cooling towels and portable fans for older adults and those with medical conditions sensitive to extreme heat.
