Refugees and immigrants have given much to our community and our nation. They enrich and enliven our communities--and their energies have long helped our Sacramento region innovate and prosper economically.
That firm conviction is why I joined Opening Doors, first as a volunteer and then as a Board member.
For over thirty years, the staff, volunteers, and supporters of Opening Doors have walked alongside these new neighbors, helping them create the foundation for what we all seek: safety, stability, and the opportunity to improve our lives and those our loved ones.
As I write, brave survivors of human trafficking, refugees from war, and immigrant entrepreneurs are still finding a welcome at Opening Doors.
Their resilience + the work of welcome has produced tens of thousands of entrepreneurs, professionals, teachers, tradesmen, and small business owners who live as our neighbors. They and their families enjoy safety, freedom, and the dignity of work.
If you are able right now, please contribute to Opening Doors. All contributions welcome. And please pass this message along to someone you know who values this work too!
