Mary Lynn "Onaona" Fundraiser

The Ohana Dance Group is the overall nonprofit that supports Kūhai Hālau O Kaponookalani Pā 'Ōlapa Kahiko, the traditional hula school.  In this school I have learned not only hula, but also traditional methods of creating adornments, how to use traditional implements when dancing, Hawaiian history and religious stories, and an introduction to the Hawaiian language.  But it is the values of the Hawaiian culture that stand out to me - responsibility, communal work, supporting community, caring for the land and more.  I've enjoyed sharing the history and culture through performances at many different venues. Each hula tells a story, whether about the Hawaiian gods and goddesses, the chiefs and kings or queens, or the beauty of the islands.  Join me in supporting Ohana Dance Group and sharing this resilient and beautiful culture.
