The Umoja International Student Fellowship Program aims to address the underrepresentation of Black and other students of color in study abroad programs by providing them with unique opportunities for cultural immersion and academic enrichment. The program aims to enhance students' global perspectives, reduce the time to degree completion, and improve graduation and retention rates while fostering leadership and community engagement.

Across 2024 and 2025, a total of 70 fellowships were awarded, supporting students from a diverse range of community colleges in accessing global learning opportunities. In 2024, 31 fellowships enabled 28 students from 10 community colleges to participate in study abroad programs, while in 2025, the program expanded its reach with 39 scholars traveling across 9 countries. Participant feedback across both years highlights the program’s sustained impact in deepening cultural understanding, strengthening identity, and fostering meaningful personal and academic growth.

Your support can open the world to even more students. Make a gift today and help expand access to these life-changing opportunities.
