As a member of the Umoja Elders Council, I’m proud to support an organization committed to creating culturally affirming education where Black students and other historically underserved students can thrive This November, Umoja will welcome 2,000 high school and college students, educators, higher education leaders, community partners, and changemakers to the 2026 Umoja Annual Conference in Ontario, California.

For four days, the Umoja community will come together for learning, leadership development, culture, connection, and collective action, all grounded in a shared commitment to expanding opportunity and advancing Black student success.

Last year Umoja has served more than 22,000 scholars across California, and Umoja scholars are 2.8 times more likely to transfer to a four-year university than comparable students who do not participate in Umoja.
