In July 2024, I started a Facebook group for people who had been harmed by the same contractor I had. There were 53 of us. By September, there were over 500. By December, over 1,000.
That was when I understood this wasn't just my story, or even a group of individual stories. It was a pattern. And the people in that group needed more than a place to vent. They needed help finding a way forward.
That's what I've been doing ever since. Helping families make sense of what happened to them. Walking them through the complaint process. Sitting with them in the devastation of losing tens of thousands of dollars, and believing them when the rest of the world doesn't. I've learned that people in crisis aren't looking for a checklist. They're looking for someone who understands.
I now serve as Director of Consumer Support Services for Roof Over My Heart. The work that started in that Facebook group grew into something more, and this is how we're carrying it forward, for every family still to come.
