It's Not Just About the Money

For many LGBTQ+ students, the obstacles to graduation are numerous.

Students in the LGBTQ community are statistically more likely to deal with discrimination, bullying, substance abuse, and mental health issues than their non-LGBTQ classmates.

And on top of this, they are less likely to have family support. In fact, 25% of LGBTQ youth are kicked out when they come out to their families, leaving them with little to no safety net

When an LGBTQ+ student receives a scholarship from the Rainbow Chamber Foundation, not only does that student now have the money to buy books, school supplies, or even nourishing groceries (because you can't hit the books on an empty stomach!), they also have the knowledge that an entire community is behind them.

Someone is rooting for them.

You are in their corner.

When you donate to the Rainbow Chamber Foundation, you create more opportunities for LGBTQ+ students to succeed and achieve their dreams. In addition, the Foundation provides support for other projects to uplift and empower the LGBTQ community, like the recent crosswalks in Lavender Heights. These kinds of initiatives serve as a welcoming beacon for all LGBTQ community members, signaling that Sacramento wants us ALL to flourish.

This is why I serve on the board of this organization! I want to give back and help my community thrive.
