Support Pathways to Employment!

Pathways to Employment shares space (and smiles) with TLC in Fair Oaks. They provide small group classes for adults with developmental disabilities to develop not only life and work skills, but also leisure and wellness skills.  This small group format is not to be found elsewhere in the area, and provides niche support to a community who has been historically underserved.  

Pathways has developed a Coffee Cart service (Thursdays 9-11) where the students can practice organization and communication skills in a familiar space.   They provide a free paper shredding service, too; this is a highly motivating class for many students where they can work on sorting, separating, and use of office machines.  They also have a small store front with handmade items that the students make and sell at local booth events (items can also be purchased onsite).

Weekly classes include Work Skills, Life Skills, Cooking, Leisure Skills, Music & Movement, Sound Circle, Art, & Mindful Movement.  They are newly providing amazing curriculum courses for a few weeks at a time, currently including Relationships Decoded and Technology Safety.  Pathways also provides monthly events including Social Saturday; this currently consists of another leisure class (Bingo) and Voice Your Choice (developed by a speech therapist at TLC for students with complex communication needs).  Movie & Pizza Nights occur seasonally, too. 

Pathways needs this BDOG support for a variety of purposes, including (but not limited to) creation of a community garden, purchase of additional high quality curriculums, technology improvements and furniture that better fits the space.   These items will help them in diversifying their clientele.  There are a million things Pathways can do with additional financial support; please dig deep & help them help more people dream a bigger dream!
