This year, I’m happy to be celebrating 35 years with Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center! What started as an internship at the Teen Center turned into my first “real” social work job — and, as it turns out, the best one I could have ever asked for.

I’ve been lucky to keep learning and growing all these years, thanks to incredible mentors and colleagues. Pictured above are Meg, Sister Jeanne, and Pat — each one has taught me so much and made a huge impact on my social work life. (Fun fact: Meg is also celebrating 15 years at Stanford Settlement this year!)

Our approach is based on social group work — helping people build connections, find support, develop skills, and experience the true power of community. Creating a sense of belonging is really at the core of everything we do.
