Sophia and Robyn: Youth Driving Real Impact

Meet Sophia:

Hello, I'm Sophia Malone, a junior at Union Mine High School. I'm very academically hands-on, but I'm also involved in tennis, the president of Future Engineers on campus, and a new member to my schools Hands4Hope club. 

My first year at Union Mine's Hands4Hope club has been an unexpectedly busy one. I joined as just a member, occasionally raising my hand during meetings, but in no time I was running around collecting donations for our annual event, Bingo4Bucks, and helping as much as I could to make sure it went smoothly. I became a helpful leader by the end of the year. A donation on the Big Day of Giving would allow the youth to continue to thrive and help our communities in more ways than ever before. 

Robyn’s Story:

As a member of the Placerville Steering Committee since 2018 and an Adult Volunteer, I have had the privilege and honor of working with Hands4Hope youth in the Emergency Food Pantry and the Empty Bowls events. What sets Hands4Hope apart is that it is youth driven. All events or club projects are chosen, planned, and executed by the youth. The passion and energy the youth exhibit continues to inspire me every day!

Impact of your Donation

👕 $15 = Purchases a required participant T-shirt for one youth with limited means

🥰 $50 = Provides material for two handmade blankets to care for families in need

💪$100 = Purchases materials for an assessment tool so five youth leaders can discover and build their strengths

🍴$200 = Supplemental food for two monthly dinners prepared for seniors at an affordable senior housing facility (average 55 meals)

💡$500 = Sponsors participation in three-day leadership camp for one youth

🥫 $2,500 = Operates a Hands4Hope Youth Center, including the Emergency Food Pantry, for one month

🏫 $3,500 = Funds one on-campus service learning Hands4Hope Club at a middle or high school for a quarter of a year

🤝 $7,000 = Funds one on-campus service-learning Hands4Hope Club at a middle or high school for half a year

About Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference

Hands4Hope is a youth-driven organization that has served Sacramento and El Dorado Counties since 2008 through Education and Outreach programs. Working alongside adult mentors and using a service-learning strategy, we equip youth with the knowledge and skills to be civic minded and socially responsible.
