I am Ramsey King and I am the Program Director for the Community Safety team.

As Director of Community Safety Programs at HEC, I led the strategic launch of the Community Safety Youth Commissioner Practicum, a leadership pipeline for youth directly impacted by violence. By co-designing the practicum with young people and community partners, we created a platform for youth to influence local safety priorities and policy recommendations. The program empowered participants to organize their first youth-participatory action research project, elevating youth solutions and strengthening our coalition’s commitment to youth-driven public health strategies.

This work has reinforced my belief that sustainable community change starts by building power with those most impacted. It’s pushed me to be a more intentional strategist — ensuring that youth leadership, healing-centered practices, and policy advocacy remain core pillars in our violence prevention/intervention framework.
