I am Patricia Parra, the Program Director for the Economic Well-Being team.

In 2023, HEC received a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco to launch a micro-lending pilot program. HEC recognizes that small businesses play a vital role in the economy and our communities and that many small business owners face challenges in accessing capital. In the past year, I've had the opportunity to work with eight incredible small business owners in Sacramento County participating in HEC's micro-lending pilot program. HEC's micro-lending program awarded eight, $2,500 small business loans, at a 4.3% interest rate. While the funding has ended, HEC's work continues. We are still meeting with the small business owners and connecting them to additional resources.

I'm grateful that I get to work on innovative programs that truly speak to the needs of our communities and that I get to do it alongside thoughtful and caring staff.
