Dolly's Story:

I don’t like asking for things, and hate writing. But I believe in Hands4Hope-Youth Making A Difference…..so on BDOG each year I rise to the occasion and do both.

Not having children made me wonder if Hands4Hope was a good fit for me. I decided to volunteer to assist with providing food at Leadership Camp. That was it…I was hooked!

Seeing these youth in action, watching them lead meetings, interact with the public, evaluate, organize and complete fundraisers is unbelievable. The encouragement and skills Hands4Hope empowers youth with is unsurpassed.

It is the courage, poise and strength of youth like Gabby that give me the courage and willingness to ask for your support.

Gabby Story:

My name is Gabby Dailey and I am so thankful to be part of the Big Day of Giving again. With Dolly Wager being my partner this year, I believe we can do great things together to help support Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference!

My first day with Hands4Hope was in August 2017 when I was sorting school supply items, but I didn't start to get really involved until summer of 2019. My mom got me started with volunteering originally. She asked if I wanted to go help make and serve food to those in need in Sacramento. From there I started to do more outreaches with my mom and older sister. That fall I joined the Rolling Hills Middle School Club in the 7th grade. Sadly my 7th grade school year was cut short due to Covid and we didn’t get to finish our club project. 8th grade was all online for our club so I still didn’t get the full experience until 9th grade at Oak Ridge High School Empower Club.

With all of these years and hours with Hands4Hope I have matured, grown, learned, and gained so many useful skills. These skills include problem solving, being a team player, commutative, and organized. Not only do I use these in my present day life but I will also use them in the future when applying for colleges and jobs. In my high school career I have held 2 club leadership positions as the Empower Club Secretary and the 2023 Winter Boutique Committee Chair. And with only a little over a year until I graduate and go off to college I plan to take on just as many leadership opportunities Hands4Hope offers!

I am so incredibly thankful for Hands4Hope for helping me get out of my shell and not being a shy little girl anymore. I’m also so grateful to see and be part of the difference that Hands4Hope makes in this beautiful community.
