Change Minds, Change Lives

The advocacy work and support that NAMI Yolo County offers in our community is an inspiration to me. I joined the Board because I wanted to use my platform to help bring our community together to erase stigma around mental illness. As someone living with a muscular genetic disorder I've been aware as long as I can remember of living with a condition that makes me feel different. I've wondered why my condition was discussed and supported and yet many who lives with a mental illness are so often left to fend for themselves. Our work at NAMI shines a light in the darkness to tell people that it is healthy to talk about mental illness and it is okay to not be okay.

This Big Day of Giving your support will...

• Fund monthly meals for our CanDo program, allowing us to serve dinner once a month to mental health clients living in supportive housing residential homes in Yolo County
• Allow us to provide peer-led support groups, mental health classes, and presentations for individuals living with mental health conditions and their families at no cost to the attendees in Davis, Woodland, West Sacramento, Winters, and unincorporated areas
• Help us advocate for housing, mental health and substance use disorder programs, crisis services, and more
• Fund our annual holiday gift program during the holiday season so that mental health clients in Yolo County receive something special
• Provide training for new volunteers to be able to use their lived experience to uplift members of our community

Your generosity makes it possible for individuals who are struggling with their mental health and their families to find support, build community, and access mental health resources. The need in our community is greater than ever. The demand for mental health services has only increased since the beginning of the pandemic. Your gift will support families and individuals affected by mental health conditions.
