🎉 Exciting Big Day of Giving Update! 🎉
Thanks to an incredibly generous $10,000 donation, we have officially unlocked both of our matching grants and met our initial campaign goal on the very first day 💛 We are so grateful.
Now we’re dreaming a little bigger.
Our next hope is to raise enough by May 7 to help replace the roof on our beloved Blue Barn.
The Blue Barn is at the heart of Herd & Flock. It is home to four remarkable pigs 🐷🐷🐷🐷—brothers Luther, Diego, and Tom, who came from a hoarding case, and the energetic, unforgettable Olivia, who once leapt from a transport truck and saved her own life.
Over the years, this barn has also sheltered chickens, goats, supplies, and so many daily sanctuary operations. Last fall, thanks to the generosity of Brooks Painting, it received a beautiful exterior transformation—from the Red Barn to the Blue Barn 💙
During that renovation, we discovered the roof is in urgent need of repair. Now that the walls are protected, it’s time to make the roof safe and secure too.

At Herd & Flock, we care for rescued farm animals as individuals 🐄🐐🐓, each with their own personality, friendships, and stories. These are animals who are so often overlooked, yet they experience joy, fear, comfort, and companionship in ways that may feel surprisingly familiar.
Over the past five years, we’ve rescued nearly 1,000 animals and welcomed hundreds of visitors to the sanctuary 🌿. When people meet the animals—whether it’s a curious goat, a gentle cow, or a chatty chicken—it often shifts something. Just like a powerful piece of music 🎵, those moments can stay with you and open the door to new ways of seeing the world.
As someone who spends much of my life in music and teaching 🎤, I’ve come to see this work as deeply connected. Both are about cultivating awareness, empathy, and a sense of shared experience.
For Big Day of Giving 💛, I’m hoping to raise $500 between April 23–May 7 to help us meet our matching grants. Every dollar goes directly toward caring for our 130+ animal residents and supporting our education and advocacy efforts.
