Tracy's Big Day of Giving Fundraiser

Before the pandemic, Yolo Farm to Fork offered cost-sharing grants to Yolo County schools to support field trips to local organic farms. Through the "Go Visit a Farm!" program, we sent hundreds of local classes on field trips that combined farm exploration, interactive discussion, and hands-on farm activities. 

This fall, our goal is to once again offer Yolo County students this unique experience that addresses school curriculum topics while also making important farm-to-table connections.

The cost to send one class to a local farm is $800-1,000. My goal this Big Day of Giving is to raise $1,000 to send a local school classroom to "Go Visit a Farm!"

While on field trips, every student participates in a harvest or farming activity and is encouraged to eat the produce that grown on the site. Student learning activities may focus on compost, parts of a flower, growing your own vegetables, pruning and caring for a fruit tree, keeping chickens and other livestock, composting worms, and learning about beneficial insects and birds that keep the farm healthy and sustainable.
