Big Day of Giving 2026 – Help Us Grow!
This year, we’re aiming to raise $10,000 to send Yolo County students on “Go Visit a Farm!” field trips this spring and fall season. These hands-on experiences such as cooking with fresh produce, planting, harvesting all connect kids to a greater education experience that leaves lasting impressions. We teach them where their food comes from and inspire the next generation of healthy eaters.
Why This Matters More Than Ever
Unfortunately, our current political and economic environment—one that increasingly deemphasizes childhood health and wellness—now poses serious threats to the institutions that serve low-income families and their children.
🚨 Social programs that help families survive economically are being cut at the federal level.
🚨 Schools face unknown and substantial budget reductions, likely impacting programs that support low-income and special-needs students.
🚨 The need for healthy food and the knowledge to grow it has never been greater, especially when considering the lasting academic and health damage from the COVID years.
Through Yolo Farm to Fork, we have a powerful opportunity to counteract these setbacks. By teaching kids how to grow and access fresh, nutritious food, we can reverse the long-term effects of COVID, unhealthy diets, and school funding cuts.
If today’s children are to become tomorrow’s leaders and productive adults, we must equip them with good health and a strong foundation in education. Our ultimate goal is to use organic agriculture and hands-on learning to prepare children for a healthy, self-sufficient future.
