Building that better world

Dear friends

For over thirty years--in turbulent times past and present--the devoted staff of Opening Doors has held the door open for others. They do the neighborly work of helping vulnerable newcomers find the stability, self-sufficiency, and sense of belonging that we all seek for our families. 

It is, as my mother would have said, the decent thing to do.

Our programs change lives in tangible ways.

• Our legal services staff helps protect the rights of dreamers and immigrants facing deportation and guides vulnerable refugees and asylees through the legal processes that will determine their continued safety.
• Survivors of human trafficking receive wraparound support that enables them to recover from their exploitation and renew the foundations of their dignity and independence. 
• Our micro-lending program enables newcomers to establish credit in a new country and funds the sort of small-scale entrepreneurship dreams that fuel our region’s economy.

I realize those activities sound abstract. But the lives changed are not.
