DMTC is California's longest-running, year-round, amateur musical theater company.  We endeavor to produce quality, affordable, family-oriented theatrical musicals open to all people.

Recently, we identified a situation involving a breach of fiduciary duty by a former officer involving the suspected misuse of a portion of our operational funds. We take any concern of this nature seriously, so upon discovery, we took swift action, including removing the officer from the board.  We have reported the situation to law enforcement and the District Attorney's office, and are fully cooperating with their investigation.  This was a painful situation to uncover, but it is important for us to be transparent and to reassure you that our programming, attendance, and earned income remain strong.  This was a one-time financial loss, not a reflection of the vitality of the theater itself.

We are committed to rebuilding your trust and ensuring every dollar directly supports our mission.  We have strengthened our internal controls and taken appropriate action to ensure this does not happen again including enhancing our financial oversight procedures and creation of a finance committee to ensure multiple people are reviewing financial transactions. These improvements will make our organization even more resilient and better equipped to serve our community with integrity.

The impact of this breach has left us temporarily behind on rent for our performance space.  With the cooperation of our landlord and the implementation of stronger financial oversight, the Board is focused on repairing this gap and protecting the future of DMTC as we move into the next season.

We are reaching out to ask whether you might consider making a contribution to our Stabilization Fund, created specifically to address this loss and help us move forward on solid footing. A gift at any level truly helps.  For those who are able, contributions of $250, $500, $1,000 or more make an immediate and meaningful difference in keeping our doors open and ensuring a strong start to our 42nd season.  Whether or not you are able to contribute at this moment, your past support has helped build the theater we all value so deeply.

We are grateful for your ongoing trust and support. Together, we are building a stronger, more transparent organization and a healthier, more connected community. We hope you will continue to stand with us as we move forward with renewed focus and confidence.

Thank you for believing in and being a part of DMTC and caring about the future of live theater in our community

With sincere appreciation,

DMTC Board of Directors
