Davis Musical Theatre Company (DMTC) was started in 1984 as a group where community members and families could come together and produce quality musical theater. DMTC is an all-volunteer community theatre which serves as a training ground for children and adults with an interest in performing arts. Our Main Stage produces six musicals per season in which children, teens, and adults come together to work as performers, artists, technicians, musicians, and support staff on an all-volunteer basis. Our Young Performers' Theatre (YPT) is a training ground for students ages 7-17 to perform in four shows during the regular season as well as a summer workshop and show.

This Big Day of Giving, DMTC is seeking support to upgrade our lighting system—a critical investment that will not only expand our production capabilities but also serve as a profound symbol of our core mission. Just as light transforms a stage, making visible the powerful stories and human truths within, DMTC illuminates the lives of everyone who crosses our path, enriching our community with creativity and connection.

The mission of DMTC is to conserve the Classic American Musical art form. DMTC aims to realize this mission through producing high quality, affordable, family-oriented theatrical musicals open to all people. As the longest running year-around amateur musical theatre company in California, we center all we do around the community we serve and work with, be it our actors, all-volunteer staff, or audiences who support our productions.

In its truest sense, we are a community theater, anchored in bringing novel and fulfilling experiences to Davis and its surrounding locales. The community is the centerpiece of all our endeavors.

For our audiences, we remain committed to the belief that theater is for everyone. We diligently curate our programming, blending beloved classics with contemporary stories to create a season that is both familiar and fresh. By intentionally keeping ticket prices accessible, we ensure that high-quality live theater and orchestral performances remain within reach for all. In our productions, audiences do not merely witness local talent; they often see friends, neighbors, and colleagues co-creating shared experiences through artistic storytelling. Furthermore, our performances encourage patrons to visit and appreciate Davis, supporting the many local establishments in the vicinity.

For those who participate in the creative process, DMTC is a place of belonging. We foster a highly connected community of actors, musicians, technicians, and volunteers who all play a vital role in bringing our productions to life. As one of the only community theaters in the region that regularly performs with a live orchestra, DMTC provides rare opportunities for local musicians to collaborate and remain connected to their craft. Each year, we welcome new performers of all ages, many of whom are stepping onto the stage for the first time. Through our Young Performers Theater (YPT), we serve numerous families each season, with approximately a quarter joining us as new participants on an annual basis. In all our shows, performers build confidence and families find connections, discovering a creative home where they truly belong.

Beyond offering high-quality productions at an accessible price point, DMTC serves as a vital beacon for strengthening the fabric of our community. In an era where entertainment is often accessed through screens and isolation is pervasive, DMTC remains a space where individuals from all walks of life can set aside their differences. Together, we take part in witnessing and co-creating stories that invite us to understand and reflect upon the shared human experience.

Your support ensures the lights remain on—not just literally on our stage, but emblematically illuminating the heart of our community. By contributing to our lighting upgrade, you are directly investing in the quality and accessibility of every production, enabling us to continue fostering this vital space where individuals of diverse backgrounds connect, create, and find belonging. This is more than a donation to equipment upgrades; it is a powerful commitment to fortifying the communal bonds of our theater for years to come. Help us keep the stage lights glowing brightly for everyone.

From all of us at DMTC - Thank you!
