Meals on Wheels Yolo County:

Preserving the Why

Across the country, senior meal programs are quietly disappearing—not from lack of care, but from lack of funding. As these vital services vanish, so does something deeper: our collective promise to honor and care for those who came before us.

At Meals on Wheels Yolo County, we remember the why.

We deliver more than food. We deliver:

  • A knock at the door that breaks the silence of isolation.

  • A welfare check that brings peace of mind to worried families.

  • A warm, nutritious meal that supports health, independence, and dignity.

But now, we are at a turning point.

If we don’t act now, people will no longer come first. Nutrition will become a numbers game, and connection—our most human need—will be lost in the margins of a budget spreadsheet.

This isn't just about food. It’s about your future. Your loved ones. Your legacy.

…Because someday, your children may rely on a service like this for you.

By supporting Meals on Wheels Yolo County, you’re helping preserve a tradition that should never be negotiable.

You’re helping us continue to check in, say hello, and bring care not just to seniors—but to their beloved pets too.

Pets are often their only companions. The ones who wait at the door with tails wagging or eyes shining. We feed them too, because love doesn’t come in human form.

You’re not just giving a meal. You’re giving peace of mind to someone’s child—who may otherwise lie awake wondering….

Is someone checking on Mom?

Did Dad eat today?

Is anyone helping feed their little dog—the only friend they have left?

Help us keep answering those questions with a resounding:

Yes. We’re here. And we’re not going anywhere.
