Twin Lakes Food Bank has been providing one of the most crucial components of health and disease prevention -- food for 40 years. Founded in 1986 as a community food bank, Twin Lakes has steadily served our under-resourced Folsom community with compassion and excellence. Our mission is to share love by mobilizing the community to provide the basic needs of nutritious food and support to those in need. As we seek to be a refuge of hope, we create a safe and welcoming environment where all people, regardless of background, are treated with dignity and love.
These groceries fill gaps in our guests' ability to feed their families when rent and other expenses consume their paycheck. We are committed to providing not only nutritious food but also personal connections through our weekly Distribution, Pantry Outreach Progam, Pantry On Wheels, Angels On Wheels, and other community resources. At weekly food distributions, guests seeking groceries enjoy a guest-choice shopping experience where they fill a cart full of the perfect food for their family. Throughout the year, events like the Back 2 School Extravaganza and Thanksgiving Grocery Event provide groceries, dental hygiene kits, school supplies, backpacks, and community resources.
As our community grows at 3x the rate of the greater Sacramento area, the strain on community services and resources continues to intensify.
Our vision is to ensure that each of our hungry neighbors has access to nutritious food. We recognize that people face seasons of vulnerability and need to reach out for help putting food on their tables at the end of the month. In addition to the basic need of food, they often need hope, encouragement, discretion, and tender care.
Our Impact
Last year at Twin Lakes, with the help of over 15,944 volunteer hours, we served 35,600 individuals, distributed over 663,400 meals-worth of groceries, harvested 5,902 pounds of organic garden produce, and composted 11,814 pounds of spoiled food.
Sharing God's love by mobilizing the community to provide food and support to hungry families.
Overall Goal $75,000
These funding projects are vital to strengthening the way we serve — ensuring our market flows smoothly, our food stays safe, and our guests are met with dignity and care. As grocery prices remain high, more neighbors are finding themselves in need, and the demand for nutritious food continues to grow. We are committed to stewarding every resource wisely so fresh, healthy food reaches the families who depend on us. Join us in making this possible — your support today directly impacts how well we can serve tomorrow.
Nutritious Food | $58,000
Funds raised will purchase core nutritional food items such as eggs, milk, and butter. Each $250 donation will provide 10 families with these essential groceries for one month.
New Freezer | $15,000
Our current refrigerator is aging and no longer operating reliably, with temperature fluctuations and frequent maintenance issues that put perishable food at risk. This not only creates food safety concerns but also limits our ability to confidently accept and distribute fresh items like dairy, produce, and proteins — foods that are essential to nourishing families well. A new refrigerator would ensure consistent temperatures, protect the integrity of donated food, and help us meet current health standards. Most importantly, it would reduce spoilage so more fresh, nutritious food reaches the families we serve instead of being lost.
Fresh Produce Stand | $12,000
Our Outdoor Produce Stand is one of the most meaningful touchpoints in our distribution experience — but right now, it has become a bottleneck in our operations. Limited table space, inefficient layout, and crowd flow challenges slow down both our volunteers and our guests, creating unnecessary wait times and strain during already busy distributions.
By investing in new, thoughtfully designed produce tables and improved organization, we can create a smoother, more dignified experience for our guests while equipping our volunteers to serve with greater ease and efficiency. This project isn’t just about furniture — it’s about removing barriers, restoring flow, and ensuring that every interaction at our Outdoor Produce Stand reflects care, excellence, and hospitality.
We are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion for every client, volunteer, employee, or job applicant. We do not discriminate against race, pregnancy (including childbirth, breastfeeding or related medical conditions) gender, age, sexual orientation, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition (including cancer and genetic characteristics), military and veteran status or any other basis protected by federal, state or local law, ordinance or regulation.
