$30,000 Goal

RRUFF Healing Heroes funds the full cost of service-dog training for veterans and first responders in the Greater Sacramento region who are living with PTSD and other invisible injuries.

Each Hero/Dog Team requires $7,800 in specialized training. This training is life-changing. Service dogs interrupt panic attacks, reduce hypervigilance, improve sleep, and provide grounding, confidence, and independence for those who have protected our communities.

This year, our goal is our boldest yet: ➡️ Fund 15 Hero/Dog Teams.

Your support directly removes the financial barrier that prevents many heroes from accessing a service dog. When you give, you are not just donating, you are helping someone rebuild their life with a trusted canine partner by their side.

Our Roots: RRUFF began by building Rocklin’s first off-leash dog park, a community space we continue to maintain. While the park remains a point of pride, our mission has evolved. Today, our focus is clear and powerful:

Support the heroes who served us—One Hero and One Dog at a Time.

Giving Activity

Mission

Support and empower disabled veterans and first responders through canine-assisted therapy and other healing strategies

Needs

$115,000 — Training for 15 Hero/Dog Teams

Service-dog training is a 12–18 month process that includes advanced obedience, public-access work, and specialized tasks that support PTSD symptom management. Each team requires $7,800 in training.

Your support ensures every veteran and first responder in our program receives this life-changing opportunity at no cost.

$4,000 — Two Service-Dog Candidates

Not all dogs are suited for intensive service work. Funding two carefully selected, purpose-bred puppies increases our graduation success rate, ensures stable temperaments, and provides our heroes with the best chance at a successful partnership.

$10,000 — Pawsability Fund (Veterinary Support)

Our dogs-in-training need consistent, reliable care. This fund covers wellness packages, spay/neuter surgeries, emergency veterinary care, and other medical needs.

A healthy dog means a stable, reliable partner for their hero.

$50,000 — Executive Director Role Expansion

RRUFF now has its first employee, a major milestone for our organization. As our program grows, dedicated leadership is essential for stewarding donors, strengthening community partnerships, expanding fundraising capacity, and ensuring long-term sustainability.

These donations help us operate efficiently and direct more dollars toward training Hero/Dog Teams.

Equity Statement

RRUFF Healing Heroes is committed to equity and believes everyone deserves access to the opportunities and resources needed to thrive, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, ability, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics. We value diversity, equity, and inclusion as essential to our mission.
