$50,000 Goal

With minimal funding, a small Board, and solely volunteer effort, Placer LGBTQ+ Center, (previously known as PRISM-Q LGBT & Allies Resource Center), has worked since its founding in 2013 to:

  • raise awareness

  • identify and provide information on resources for the LGBTQ+ community, families, and allies

  • to change hearts, minds, and policies of local government entities including foster systems,

        law enforcement, and educational institutions.

Our main objective is to find a convenient location for the Placer LGBTQ+ Center aka "The Center" to operate. We need  your donations to make this a reality. Our goal is to have The Center operational by 2024. The Center will be open to all ages and will have facilities for people to meet, have fun, socialize, feel safe and loved, and find the resources they need to seek appropriate care.

Placer County is in dire need of programs and services for the LGBTQ+ community. A recent study was conducted by the Placer Collaborative Network, spelling this out.  Additionally, the annual Placer Mental Health Services Act Report highlights the need for programs and services for this community, underscoring the value of The Center we are creating.

Your kind donations will make a difference in someone's life.

Mission

Our Mission is to cultivate the Placer County area as safe space for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community and their families, through education, mentoring, peer support, and resources.

Our Vision is an LGBTQ+ Center in Placer County, a socially conservative region of California. A physical gathering space where members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies can gather safely to access resources and support, as well as opportunities to get involved and build community is much needed here. Placer LGBTQ+ Center will also continue to organize the annual Placer Pride event. Our first in person Pride event was held in May of 2022, with over 500 attendees, 34 vendors/resource organization tables, and over a dozen local performing arts entertainers.

Needs

Our current goal is to raise $50,000:

- To help fund the lease/down payment for a safe, accessible physical starter space for the Placer LGBTQ+ Center, including insurance, utilities and other general operating expenses.

Equity Statement

In addition to the sea of diverse and joyful faces of attendees, Placer Pride brings together a whole lot of good folks and organizations doing the important work of promoting Diversity Inclusion and Equity in Placer County, CA. This opportunity to collaborate and network goes a long way towards building a strong and supportive community here, one that can stand the test of time and other challenges. Some of the organizations already involved include: PFLAG Greater Placer County, ChapaDe Indian Health Centers, The Latino Leadership Council, Placer County Human Services, ElParkis Youth Ministries, the Landing Spot, The Trans Queer Youth Collective, and Sierra Native Alliance.
