Help Establish a Lifeline for LGBTQ+ Youth and Families in Placer County.
Right now, too many LGBTQ+ youth, individuals, and families in Placer County are struggling alone. With your gift today, you can help us support the Placer LGBTQ+ Center β a safe, affirming space where youth and families will be seen, supported, and empowered. Together, we created a hub for community, advocacy, resources, and joy. Did you know?
41% of lesbian, gay, and bisexual teens in Placer County have seriously considered suicide - nearly four times the rate of their heterosexual peers [1]. Your gift will help make our community safer and more welcoming for LGBTQ+ youth.
56% of LGBTQ+ 11th graders report harassment at school in Placer County [1] - doubling their risk of self-harm and substance use. Together, we provide space(s) where young people find haven and healing in community.
70% of LGBTQ+ teens in Placer County experience chronic sadness and hopelessness [1] - while nearly half of local high schools lack LGBTQ+ student groups [2]. Your gift will help us advocate for connecting isolated students to critical resources.
LGBTQ+ youth are over-represented in the foster care and homelessness systems, often after being rejected by their families [3]. Your generosity will help us advocate to ensure local foster care and housing systems protect them.
LGBTQ+ parents in rural Placer County face stigma, fear, legal barriers, and healthcare discrimination, leaving families vulnerable and unsupported. With your help, we will create access to support groups, legal advocacy, and inclusive services.
We are 100% all volunteer run, so every dollar supports the Placer LGBTQ+ Center and the community we serve.
π Give now. Help establish hope today for those who are most at risk and continue to have an all-welcoming Center.

About Us
With minimal funding, a small Board, and solely volunteer effort, Placer LGBTQ+ Center, (previously known as PRISM-Q LGBT & Allies Resource Center), has worked since its founding in 2013 to:
- raise awareness
- identify and provide information on resources for the LGBTQ+ community, families, and allies
- to change hearts, minds, and policies of local government entities including foster systems,
law enforcement, and educational institutions.
Creating an LGBTQ+ Center in Placer County
Our main objective was to find a convenient location for the Placer LGBTQ+ Center aka "The Center" to operate. We now have a physical Center in Roseville, thanks in part to your generosity. The Center is open to all ages and has facilities for people to meet, have fun, socialize, feel safe and loved, and find the resources they need to seek appropriate care. Together, we did it!
Placer County is in dire need of programs and services for the LGBTQ+ community. A recent study was conducted by the Boch, Verker, & Bell, 2018, Placer County Needs Assessment, spelling this out. Additionally, the annual Placer Mental Health Services Act Report highlights the need for programs and services for this community, underscoring the value of The Center we are creating.
Your kind donations will make a difference in someone's life.
