Help Build the New Animal Outreach Shelter
$0 Raised
Animal Outreach of the Mother Lode is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing accessible veterinary care, shelter, and adoption services that improve the lives of animals and the people who care for them throughout El Dorado, Sacramento, and Placer Counties.
Established in 1992, Animal Outreach serves over 8,000 cats and dogs each year through our low-cost clinic, rescue, and adoption programs. As our community’s needs have grown, so has our vision. In late 2025, we purchased a new building that will become the future home of Animal Outreach. This expanded facility will allow us to significantly increase access to affordable veterinary care, enhance our ability to treat and diagnose animals, and provide a safe, modern shelter environment for cats in need. Our new home represents a major step forward in our mission to serve more animals, more effectively, than ever before.
In addition to our clinical services, we manage robust adoption and foster programs that help place cats and kittens—including those with special needs and barn cats—into loving, appropriate homes.
We are proud to have accomplished the following in 2025:
842 canine surgeries and treatments
6,766 feline surgeries and treatments
1,633 feline intakes
1,519 feline adoptions
Additionally, 600 community cats benefitted from our free monthly community cat clinics, which provide spay/neuter and vaccination services.
With the support of generous donors and partners, we are building toward an even greater impact in the years ahead as we bring our new shelter and clinic to life.
Provide community service for animals in need through low-cost spay and neuter and vaccination services to help eliminate pet overpopulation and euthanasia of adoptable animals.
Provide a safe and caring haven for our shelter animals until adopted.
Promote, through education and training, responsible pet ownership.
Promote a fiscally responsible organization so that the funding available benefits as many animals as possible.
Animal Outreach relies on the generosity of our community to provide essential care such as food, veterinary services, and daily shelter needs. Today, that support is more critical than ever as we take on our most ambitious project to date: the development of our new shelter and low-cost clinic.
At the end of 2025, we purchased a new building that will become the future home of Animal Outreach. This facility will allow us to dramatically expand our capacity to serve animals and the people who care for them across El Dorado, Sacramento, and Placer Counties. We are now actively raising funds to renovate and equip this space, transforming it into a modern, efficient clinic and safe, welcoming shelter for cats in need. Contributions toward this project are an investment in the long-term sustainability and growth of our mission.
Volunteers are at the heart of Animal Outreach, supporting all areas of our work. Those interested in getting involved are encouraged to call (530) 642-2287.
We also welcome individuals with business or animal welfare experience who are interested in serving on our Board of Directors and helping guide the organization’s future.
Together, we are building a stronger future for the animals in our community.
Animal Outreach of the Mother Lode is committed to equitable access to veterinary care and pet support services for all, regardless of income, background, or circumstance. We work to reduce barriers through affordable programs and inclusive outreach across El Dorado, Sacramento, and Placer Counties.
We believe every person deserves the opportunity to care for their animals with dignity, and we strive to create a welcoming environment for the diverse communities we serve.
