Empowering Individuals. Transforming Lives.

Behind every clean street, every well-tended green space, and every beautifully maintained property in Sacramento is a team of dedicated professionals who are doing more than a job — they're rebuilding their lives.

Sacramento Navigators, or SacNav, is a nationally registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit social enterprise built on a simple but powerful belief: meaningful work changes everything. Our maintenance and landscaping crews are made up of individuals who have experienced homelessness and are in recovery — people with drive, skill, and determination who needed the right opportunity to prove what they're capable of. We provide that opportunity.

Our teams deliver professional-grade maintenance, landscaping, and beautification services across Sacramento (including PBID's)— which means every contract we secure, every property we service, every satisfied client directly funds pathways out of homelessness. This is the SacNav model: high-quality work that creates high-impact change.

What began as the River District (PBID) Public Spaces Program has grown into something far greater — a thriving, expanding operation reaching more neighborhoods, engaging more participants, and helping more individuals reclaim rich and fulfilling lives. Our crews don't just make Sacramento look better. They are living proof that with the right support, the right training, and the right community behind them, people transform.

When you hire SacNav, you're not just getting exceptional service. You're investing in Sacramento's most important resource — its people.

Sacramento Navigators is proud to be recognized as the 2025 Nonprofit of Distinction by Sacramento Mayor Kevin McCarty and the CPTED Organization of the Year by USCPTED Association.

Mission

SacNav MISSION STATEMENT:

To empower individuals, restore dignity, and actively work towards rebuilding their lives for the betterment of themselves, their families, and the community.

SacNav VISION STATEMENT:

Our vision is to create a society where individuals who have faced homelessness and/or drug addiction are empowered to rebuild their lives, reintegrate into society, and contribute positively to their communities. We strive to be a beacon of hope, providing comprehensive support and tools necessary for personal growth and success. Through our program, we aim to equip participants with valuable workplace skills and opportunities, enabling them to secure meaningful employment and achieve long-term independence. By fostering a sense of pride, responsibility, and connection through engaging participants in work skills such as, the cleaning and maintenance of public spaces, we envision a community that understands the challenges faced by marginalized individuals, and actively empowering them for the betterment of the community. Together, we will restore dignity, transform lives, and create a more compassionate society with their accomplishments in hard work and change.

Needs

Maintenance Trucks, Trailers, Supplies, support for additional team members. Our nonprofit organization is dedicated to empowering individuals who have faced homelessness and/or drug addiction, providing them with the tools and support necessary to reintegrate into society and rebuild their lives through a comprehensive program. We understand that overcoming significant challenges requires time, commitment, and a holistic approach. Therefore, our program extends over a period of up to two years, ensuring participants receive sustained assistance and guidance as they navigate their journey towards independence and self-sufficiency. By offering a longer-term program, we can provide participants with ample opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and successful reintegration into society. Our commitment to walking alongside individuals throughout this extended period allows us to address their unique needs, challenges, and aspirations, ultimately fostering lasting transformation and creating a sustainable pathway to a brighter future.

Equity Statement

Our Commitment to Equity

At Sacramento Navigators, equity is not a value we aspire to — it's the foundation we operate from.

We believe that systemic barriers, not personal failings, are the primary drivers of homelessness and economic hardship. Race, background, and circumstance should never determine a person's access to opportunity, dignity, or a livable wage. That's why SacNav intentionally creates pathways for individuals who have been most marginalized by these systems — offering not just employment, but real wages, real skills, and real futures.

We are committed to building a workplace where every team member is treated with respect, supported in their growth, and recognized for their contributions. We hold ourselves accountable to the communities we serve, and we actively work to dismantle the inequities that make our mission necessary in the first place.

True transformation — for individuals and for Sacramento — only happens when everyone has a fair shot. That is the work we show up to do every day.
