Friends of the Lincoln Public Library

A nonprofit organization

The Lincoln Public Library is where our community comes together to discover, connect, and learn. "Without FOLL (and donors like you), Lincoln would not have the vibrant library that it does β€” so thank you for continuing to invest in our community and its future." - Kathryn Hunt, Library Director.

Your Donations Matters

Today’s libraries are about so much more than books. Thanks to our donors, Friends of the Lincoln Public Library (FOLL) supplements the budget by more than $100,000 per year, making it possible for the library to offer something for everyone in the community. Last year 15,000 adults, teens and children participated in library programs and events.

DISCOVER: Lincoln Public Library includes everyone in the community in its planning, all with the help of the Friends. Annual events such as the Lincoln Book Festival and Candlelight String Quartet and author visits are growing in popularity. The expansion of the digital collection is due to FOLL funding for the library's Libby and Kanopy subscriptions. These online platforms enabling patrons to borrow and stream a variety of audiobooks, movies, music, and more any time of the day or night.  In the past year, library users accessed more than 13,700 books, films, and other media through Hoopla and Kanopy.

LEARN: FOLL champions the joy of reading by funding library initiatives. Imagine the excitement of every first grader in the Lincoln area receiving their very own book as part of Read Across Lincoln. Feel the warmth as Read to Me-Baby Literacy Kits find their way into the hands of families in need, planting the seeds of lifelong literacy. Or the joy of toddlers playing while they learn during Mother Goose on the Loose. The anticipation of Summer Reading Program rewards ignites a love for stories that will last a lifetime. In a testament to their dedication, FOLL generously gifted over 2,000 new giveaway books this past year, spreading the magic of reading far and wide.

CONNECT: Recognizing that limited hours of operation may serve as a barrier, the Library has expanded access to library services, thanks to funding by the Friends. Two Book lockers, located at the Library and the Lincoln Community Center, give residents 24/7 convenient access to books and materials in the library’s collection. A new Spanish language catalog allows Spanish speakers to easily access the library’s physical and digital collection. Teenagers who take the initiative to plan library events are enhancing their leadership and organizational skills. FOLL serves as a reliable partner, providing resources for Teen Advisory Board (TAB) events such as the Youth Literary Festival and Ice Cream Social, Battle of the Books, and the Cover to Cover Book Club, which offers teens the opportunity to read and connect in-person.
