Since 1978, DOVIA Sacramento has built a dedicated network for volunteer‑manager training and collaboration. It strengthens community engagement in volunteerism by fostering communication among members, partner agencies, and the public. The organization welcomes anyone—paid or volunteer—whose primary role involves directing, coordinating, or supporting a volunteer program, as well as individuals committed to advancing volunteerism. Membership categories include individual and agency, and members receive free or discounted program fees.
DOVIA Sacramento has continually expanded in size and scope. Today, it brings together a wide range of agency members, including hospitals, food banks, cultural institutions, libraries, and youth‑serving organizations such as the Girl Scouts. DOVIA hosts training and networking meetings. DOVIA is guided by an Executive Board that plans and delivers professional development and support for volunteer managers year-round.
Due to DOVIA Sacramento's positive reputation, and longevity, Sacramento has been chosen as the site for the upcoming National Summit on Volunteer Engagement scheduled for March 18-20, 2026.
Donate today and support our continued growth and success in fostering volunteerism in the Sacramento Region!
DOVIA Sacramento provides a forum for exchange of information on relevant issues for professional volunteer managers and leaders of volunteers. Through collaborative efforts, DOVIA Sacramento is committed to promoting service and emphasizing professional growth and development of the volunteer administration profession.
The DOVIA Sacramento Board is responsible for implementation of the goals and mission, as well as the continuity and growth, of the DOVIA Sacramento organization. As an all-volunteer 501c3 organization, DOVIA Sacramento's success and viability depends on the time and effort of its Board and Committees.
Funding is required to support virtual and in-person trainings, conferences, and forums pertaining to best practices in volunteer management and related topics. In addition, we see a need to support the newest volunteer managers in our region. Many of our members and program participants are new to the field and are looking for volunteer administration professional training courses. Our educational offerings assist Sacramento area volunteer professionals and volunteer leaders to share the same vision when utilizing volunteers in service to Sacramento area communities.
Funds are needed to support annual subscriptions for website/database, Zoom, Google Voice, QuickBooks, and other virtual technologies that allow us to maintain the organization's infrastructure in the most affordable and efficient manner possible.
Volunteers are needed to serve DOVIA Sacramento on the following committees:
Awards and Scholarships
Communications
Education
Membership
Technology
Governance Administration
We are committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment where every board member, organization member, volunteer, and community partner feels valued and respected. We are committed to making our programs and resources accessible to all, actively removing barriers for underrepresented groups.
