Yolo County Historical Society is raising funds for the School House Education Fund, the Camp Haswell Restoration Fund, and the YCHS General Fund.

School House Education Fund

The Spring Lake Schoolhouse Museum is a Yolo County historical resource owned and operated by the Yolo County Historical Society. It is located on the Yolo County Fairgrounds and is available for visits from school groups (free of charge). During the fall and spring, the schoolhouse hosts third-grade classes from throughout the county for a living history experience. It is also open during the Yolo County Fair held every year from Wednesday evening through Saturday in August.

Camp Haswell Restoration Fund

Yolo County Historical Society is partnering with the residents of Capay Valley to restore the roof of Camp Haswell (also known as "the Boy Scout Cabin"). The "Boy Scout Cabin" at Camp Haswell on Cache Creek was built in the 1930s by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) using creek stone and mortar. The cabin has become a beloved recreational spot for locals and visitors alike and has withstood floods and severe wind for over 90 years.

YCHS General Fund

Yolo County Historical Society, Woodland Parlor 30 NSGW, and nine other local historical groups in the county continue to improve the office building on the Yolo County Fairgrounds. Along with the Spring Lake School House, which is also on the grounds, the Yolo County Fair Museum will add a comprehensive historical as well as agricultural focus for the people of Yolo County. Our goal is to help future generations understand their heritage by building a legacy for the future by preserving our past.

Mission

Yolo County Historical Society strives to preserve, protect, and acknowledge the diverse history of the county through education, communication, and advocacy. It is a county-wide organization researching and preserving historical resources from Rumsey to Clarksburg, from the Sacramento River to Monticello Dam, including the pastoral Dunnigan Hills and the cities of Davis, West Sacramento, Winters and Woodland.
