$10,000 Goal

The Meals on Wheels Yolo County Board of Directors are volunteers engaged and committed at the highest level to senior nutrition in our local communities.  Inspired by the potential of the "Eat Well, Age Well Yolo County" movement to create healthier outcomes for local seniors, we are collaborating to maximize the opportunity that the Big Day of Giving provides to prioritize good nutrition and socialization for seniors in Yolo County's cities and rural communities alike. We're inviting our friends and family to join in our generosity!

MOW Yolo's program has grown by more than 150% in the past two years, producing and delivering more than 18,000 meals every single month. However, this still means the program is serving less than 12% of the senior population who are estimated to be food insecure in Yolo County according to 2020 U.S. Census statistics. The skyrocketing costs of food, fuel, and utilities are making it even more challenging to provide nourishing meals for seniors. That's why as the one-time funding sources that supported MOW Yolo's recent capacity expansion begin to diminish, we're keenly focused upon the sustainability of the program, as well as investments that extend and deepen the value of our work for seniors struggling to age in place safely and affordably:

  • Fresh, local nutritious food
  • Medically tailored meals
  • Expanded "Cafe Yolo" social dining options
  • More rural meals access

By participating in the Big Day of Giving, you are helping to sustain the remarkable progress that MOW Yolo has made in serving vulnerable seniors in our communities.  Your generosity will enable us to continue to offset the rising costs of food, fuel, and utilities, which could otherwise undermine MOW Yolo's success, leaving seniors isolated and undernourished.  Our Board of Directors' goal is to raise  $10,000 in support of MOW Yolo's overall goal to reach $100,000 by midnight on May 2nd to ensure the long-term sustainability of our mission.  We invite you to join in this critical effort to support the health and well-being of Yolo County's seniors.
