The Alchemist CDC Board of Directors is stepping up in a big way this Big Day of Giving. Ten Sacramento-area leaders, one shared goal...and a little friendly competition.
Each board member, along with our CEO Sam Greenlee, has committed to a fundraising goal of $2,000 to support Alchemist CDC’s work connecting communities to land, food, and opportunity.
The first $10,000 raised through these Board peer-to-peer pages will be directed toward opening an Alchemist CDC Nonprofit Fund with the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, strengthening the financial foundation that supports all of our programs. This fund will allow us to more easily accept and manage donor-restricted funds, charitable gift annuities, and larger charitable contributions in partnership with one of the region’s most trusted nonprofit fund stewards.
Every dollar raised beyond that will go toward Alchemist CDC general program operations, helping Alchemist's exceptional team expand food access, support entrepreneurs, and continue building vibrant, community-centered food spaces across Sacramento.

What is #MyAlchemistStory?
This year, Alchemist CDC is making a shift in how we show up for Big Day of Giving. In addition to raising funds, we are launching a year-long campaign lifting up the real stories that reflect how this work lives in our community every day.
We are launching #MyAlchemistStory as a space for you to share how Alchemist CDC and our programs have been part of your Sacramento food and community journey.
While we are incredibly proud of the data and statistics that demonstrate Alchemist CDC’s impact across Sacramento County, it is the personal stories that show the depth of connection, individual growth, and the kind of community that becomes possible when people come together around food. From small food entrepreneurs building businesses, to farmers bringing fresh food to market, to CalFresh shoppers stretching their dollars, to volunteers and neighbors showing up for one another, these experiences are what bring Alchemist CDC's mission to life.
We are launching this campaign with stories from our staff, Board, and current program participants, and we are excited to continue growing it with voices from across the Alchemist community.
