The California State Railroad Museum Foundation (CSRMF) has been an official cooperating association with California State Parks and a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization since 1987. CSRMF provides funding for the ongoing support of numerous programs at the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown. Both locations are home to historic rolling stock that cannot be experienced anywhere else, and they pride themselves on the ability to use their extensive collections to engage railfans of all ages and backgrounds in Western American railroad history.

Our educational teams deliver thousands of activities each year, to classrooms, schools, and community groups making history, science, and technology accessible and fun for all.

Donations allow our expert team to conserve, care and restore our collection. Including the creation of our “digital exhibits,” making our collection accessible online, so everyone can enjoy our museums no matter where they are in the world.
- Developing new exhibits
Your support allows our team of talented curators to develop new and engaging exhibitions. We are here for everyone, no matter what a visitor’s knowledge level, background, or interests are – we are always looking to create an experience and tell stories that are steeped, rich in history, and as diverse as our state so that there is something interesting for everyone!
