Help us fight hunger in the Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD)!
Community Food Connections is a program of Alchemist CDC that bridges gaps in the food system to get groceries to local SCUSD families of school children who are the most vulnerable to hunger.
As of March 2026, we are connecting 2,800 neighbors across 40 campuses each month with essential food and nutrition support! That’s 1,649 children and 1,151 care-givers and family members in 647 households who receive groceries every 1 or 2 weeks!
Sacramento County's food insecurity rates are higher than both state and national averages. As of 2024, approximately 28% of Sacramento County residents (more than 448,000 people), are estimated to be at risk of hunger. Data indicates food insecurity is rising, with more than 1 in 4 community members living below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
While the District partners with Alchemist CDC, it doesn’t provide ongoing financial support for program operations. Full Bellies Feed Learning is a campaign to raise $250,000 to sustain CFC to meet the growing need for food resources within the District.
