Did you catch our students on KCRA 3?

Our Futures High School students recently sat down with Mike Cherry to share how they built their hydrogen-powered race car, won 1st place at the California State Finals, and earned the opportunity to compete in Switzerland this June.

A team of students from Futures High School has done something incredible!

Through months of hard work, problem-solving, and innovation, they designed and built a hydrogen-powered race car—competing against teams from across California. Their dedication paid off when they earned 1st place at the Hydrogen Grand Prix State Finals, securing a spot at the international competition in Switzerland this summer.

This opportunity is a chance for our students to:

  • Represent California on a global stage
  • Showcase their skills in clean energy and engineering
  • Represent their school, their community, and Sacramento

For many of these students, this will be their first time traveling internationally.

Why We Need Your Support

The cost to attend the international competition is significant, and we want to ensure that every student who earned this opportunity can attend—regardless of financial circumstances.

Funds raised will help cover:

  • Airfare to Switzerland
  • Lodging and meals
  • Competition registration fees
  • Local transportation

Our goal is to remove financial barriers so these students can focus on what they’ve already proven they can do: succeed!
