Trains of Memory, Tracks to Tomorrow!

Walking through the California State Railroad Museum's collections inspires awe and excitement for all ages. Boarding an excursion train ride on the Sacramento Southern Railroad (SSRR) builds upon those emotions and connects the past and present. 

I think every child, and even adults if they are able, should see the California State Railroad Museum, and ride the historic rollingstock.  There's something about trains; the experience is so special. I hope you will join me in making a donation to the Museum for this year's Big Day of Giving. This annual event has become a lifeline for the Foundation, and we are so grateful for the support of so many.

When you support the Museum on Big Day of Giving, your donation helps to not only maintain the ongoing restoration efforts of the equipment you see in old Sacramento but also enable us to bring thousands of school children through the Museum annually. Many will also experience that rumble beneath their feet when they take a ride on the SSRR - they connect to an important history of the Golden State. 

Many of these children would never have the opportunity to step inside our museum, or ride the train, without your help. Every donation keeps our educational mission on track.

Your Big Day of Giving donation will directly, and positively, affect our ability to welcome school children and allows us to transform Museum visits into unforgettable journeys of discovery that spark young imaginations. We have an ambitious goal of welcoming more that 100,000 students to the Museum in 2025.
