Almost 15 years ago the Pence Gallery executive director, Natalie Nelson, took a chance on me. Natalie hired me to create and manage a teen arts program at the Pence. She empowered me to harness my own creativity while fostering creativity in others.
I love to explain to people how this was my favorite job.
Why was it my favorite?
I was able to experience firsthand how the arts positively transform the lives young people. I watched participating teens gain confidence, forge new friendships, and even pursue career paths in the arts. I saw how much joy and meaning the arts brought into their lives.
As a Board member of the Pence Gallery in Davis, I’m excited to support and celebrate the arts in our our region. I believe in the gallery's mission to spark creativity, connect with diverse audiences, showcase the amazing talents of local artists, and provide educational opportunities for people of all ages.
This year, the Pence Gallery's Big Day of Giving donations help support youth programming and increase the safety of the Pence of the Gallery.
Join me in supporting our next generation of artists and community leaders. I have seen how transformational arts experiences are for young people and I know that our future is brighter when the Pence Gallery can engage even more youth in the creative process.
