AMI Housing (AMIH) is a California 501c3 non-profit that provides housing, employment, and life skills programs to residents of Placer & Nevada County, who otherwise might be homeless, and many who have mental illness or other debilitating disabilities. AMIH is the largest provider of housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Placer and Nevada counties, serving over 1,800 persons each year.

AMIH’s “Pioneer House” in Auburn can house six individuals and has been at capacity since it opened in 2020. Pioneer Place serves individuals who are homeless and have a severe and persistent mental illness. The builder captain is championing the conversion of the existing detached garage into a two-bed, one-bath ADU. The project adds two beds to AMIH’s permanent supportive housing project. Contributions are needed to keep project costs low for AMIH.
