The Power of Giving: My Journey with Iu Mien Community Services (IMCS)

My journey with IMCS began at a time when I felt lost and unsure of who I am as an Iu Mien-America. Facing academic and identity challenges in high school that seemed insurmountable, I was fortunate to have attended the first two Iu Mien Student Conference. 

Attending the student conferences has been a transformative experience for me. Each student conference served as a reminder of the strength and resilience within our Iu Mien community. Surrounded by other Iu Mien student who shared similar struggles and aspirations, I felt a sense of belonging that I had longed for. And as I stood among my peers, sharing stories of triumph and perseverance, I couldn't help but feel a swell of pride in myself as an Iu Mien-American and how far our people have come. 

Through the student conference, and the various programs, volunteer opportunities, and leadership roles, IMCS provided me with the tools and resources necessary to navigate life's obstacles with resilience and determination. Whether it was access to employment opportunities, mentorship, or leadership and professional development, they stood by me every step of the way, empowering me to continue my work in my community. 

But perhaps what truly sets IMCS apart is not just their tangible support, but the intangible sense of community and solidarity they foster. In times of challenges, they became a beacon of light in our community, reminding us that our Iu Mien community was never alone in navigating this world. Their belief in our community’s potential and their unwavering support serves as an inspiration for me to keep pushing forward, even when the odds seemed stacked against me. 

As I look back on how far I've come, I am filled with gratitude for the invaluable support and guidanceIMCS has played in shaping my journey. Their kindness and generosity have touched my life in ways words cannot express, and I am forever indebted to them for their selfless dedication to making a difference. 

But the impact of IMCS extends far beyond my own story. Every day, they continue to transform the lives of countless individuals, offering them tangible and intangible support. It is through their tireless efforts and the generosity of donors like you that they are able to carry out their mission and create meaningful changes in the world.
