Hope for Women

Please join me in supporting Soroptimist International of Davis, part of a global service organization with members in 121 countries worldwide. Our mission is to provide women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

As the incoming president of SI Davis, I am looking forward to playing a larger role in our club of amazing women.

We support women and girls right here in Yolo County. Our Live Your Dream Program offers funds to women who are the primary wage earners for their families and are attending undergraduate school or technical training. These women are amazing and inspiring. Many have endured hardships such as domestic violence, homelessness, or foster care. Most are single mothers trying to set an example for their children.

We also promote educational opportunities through the mentorship of students at King High, our continuation high school here in Davis. And we award scholarships to local high school graduates who have shown resilience in overcoming challenges.

I especially enjoy working with our Hands-On committee to make and fill bags with toiletries for women escaping domestic violence, collect food for our local food pantry, and donate cleaning supplies and toys to families in transitional housing.

The Big Day of Giving is on May 2 but you can donate as little as $10 today. I will match the first $250 in donations, in the hope of reaching my goal of $1000. If you pay using your Golden 1 Credit Union debit card your donation may be matched as well. And if you prefer to donate offline, checks made out to SI Davis are also accepted.
