Chalk It Up is a non-profit arts organization celebrating its 35th anniversary supporting youth arts programs year around through generous donations like yours!
Chalk It Up likes to have fun and support youth arts! We organize and put on the most fun anyone can have over Labor Day Weekend - the three-day Chalk It Up! Chalk Art & Music Festival, held in Fremont Park in Sacramento! The festival is FREE to attend and showcases hundreds of artists, musicians, and local craft and food vendors! Through our many volunteers this festival is able to come together to promote community pride, civic participation, and social connection.
With generous donations like yours we support arts education programs by giving grants to local teachers throughout the year so that art supplies don't have to come out of their own pockets and our youth can create art as part of their education and for there well being. We also run different art programs for kids such as the Annual High School Self-Portrait Show, and the new program (currently in beta test mode) "Chalk It Up at My School" where we bring supplies and artists to a local school to have their own festival.
Students with an arts education are:
- 5X less likely to drop out of school
- 4X more likely to be recognized for academic achievement
- 4X more likely to receive a bachelor’s degree
- 30% more inclined to pursue a professional career
"My child lost his access in 5th grade at his Title I school because the arts instructors rotated between schools. In contrast, I worked with a school in a high-income area where elementary students had access to robust arts programs."
"The arts help students perform better academically and develop critical life skills like problem-solving, collaboration, and adaptability." Teacher Teisha Holloway
