What if one day, the outdoors could change how a child sees the world and themselves? After a field experience with Sierra Nevada Journeys, students shared reflections that stopped us in our tracks:
“Now I LOVE nature!”
“I got smarter.”
“I have changed with my heart of nature.”
“This was the best day ever.”
Their words reveal something powerful. And this year, we have something powerful to share with you, too.
Sierra Nevada Journeys has acquired 1,025 acres of wild land where thousands more students will catch mayflies, test watershed health, examine rocks shaped by weathering and erosion, and build deer habitats with their own hands.
One thousand acres of “best day ever.”
Science won’t be something they read about. It will be something they experience — in a place that now belongs to our mission of delivering innovative outdoor and science-based education programs, and to them. Moments like finding a crawdad in the water or spotting a deer along the trail spark an awe that stays with a child long after the bus ride home.
Nature becomes a setting where students find courage, in themselves and with each other.
This land holds something rare, but getting kids here takes your help. Your generosity this Big Day of Giving will help us bring students to this extraordinary place, ensuring that all children — especially those who face financial barriers — can access transformative, hands-on science experiences in the outdoors.
Double your impact today. A generous donor has pledged to match all gifts made during Big Day of Giving; your gift will be matched, up to $5,000, so your donation will go twice as far to support students.
Will you help us fill these 1,025 acres with “best day ever” moments?
From all of us at Sierra Nevada Journeys, we thank you for believing in the power of outdoor education.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Sierra Nevada Journeys
