Hi, my name is Liz and I'm the graphic designer for the Pence. I also have the pleasure of running the gallery on Sundays, which is when we have our amazing children's program called Art in Action. This unique program brings together families, and creates friendships through the ability to share and explore creative activities and ideas. I have seen first hand the friendships that develop as these children attend our monthly classes. I have experienced the joy and sense of pride that they have when they leave, excited to show off their creations. And I have witnessed the sadness and dismay when I had to tell these families that we can no longer afford to hold our classes every month. Please help us bring the smiles back to these wonderful children and budding artists. The Pence needs $6,000 in order to bring back our monthly Art in Action classes. Any amount can add up to make a big difference.
I moved to Davis 3 years ago because I wanted to be part of a larger community of artists, I wanted to be among others who shared my passion for art and self-expression, as well as a desire to create a real sense of community. And I have found that at the Pence Gallery, where we focus on building community through art. I coined the phrase "Home is where the Art is" for a design we use on our tote bags, because that's what the Pence is to me, and many other: Home. It's heartbreaking when you realize that your home isn't as safe as it used to be. One of our goals this year is to replace our doors with new ones that have updated safety and accessibility features. That will only be possible through your generous donations, and the magic of Big Day of Giving. Thank you for your support!
