My name is David Husid, and I grew up in a middle-class neighborhood just 15 miles south of San Francisco, CA. Adopted at birth, I was always celebrated as the "chosen one," enjoying a loving family and a wonderful childhood. However, I faced significant challenges when alcohol became a problem in my early years, leading to homelessness and ultimately incarceration for computer fraud. It felt like my life was over.

But then I discovered Quinn Cottages, a transformative two-year program downtown designed to support individuals like me. This opportunity changed everything! I was able to return to school, rebuild my credit, mend relationships with my family, find a job, and slowly piece my life back together. Eighteen months later, I moved into my own apartment with my girlfriend, and a year after that, we bought our first home together. I graduated from college and earned my CADC certification to work as a drug and alcohol counselor. When I learned that I could be employed by the very organization that helped save my life—Cottage Housing—I jumped at the opportunity. Now, 20 years later, I proudly serve as the Chief Operating Officer for Cottage Housing, Inc. Thanks to my experience at Quinn and the unwavering support from the staff at Cottage Housing, I am living a fulfilling life today. I have dedicated my life to helping others on their journey to recovery and empowerment.
