MusicLandria is Sacramento's music library, where anyone can borrow instruments the same way other libraries lend out books - For Free. Guitars, violins, drums, synths, recording equipment, the list goes on. It's the largest of its type in the country, closing in on its 30,000th loan and truly one of the coolest things about Sacramento.
I've been a fan and borrower since we moved here so when they recently put out the call for people to join their board, I felt like I had to raise my hand.
Getting a firsthand view of MusicLandria has given me a brand new appreciation of what we do. Not limited to just library lending - we host workshops, offer certifications, sponsor recording internships (of incredible local talent), put on live events, the list goes on.
BIG DAY of GIVING is the Sacramento Region Community Foundation's annual fundraiser for area nonprofits. This year, MusicLandria is at an inflection point, on the verge of securing a permanent home. A new space will enable us to maximize our offerings in all areas and greatly expand our community impact. The down payment, however, will almost completely empty the coffers so this year's event is CRITICAL to that plan!
Rather than enter a dollar amount as my goal, I set a goal for 100 of my family and friends to contribute what they can. If you can only spare a dollar, that's cool, but please join me in helping MusicLandria secure itself and its mission of fueling creativity by putting instruments in people's hands and encouraging them to express themselves!
Thank you!
