I am immensely proud of the growth and impact of the Sacramento Children’s Museum.  Last year will be remembered as one where we increased accessibility, added new exhibitions and programs, and more, all to achieve our mission to inspire a lifelong love of learning through play.

In 2023, that mission reached over 80,000 guests, nearly double that of the previous year. They explored Sacramento in miniature in our updated Cityways exhibit, traversed the wilderness in the new Camp Rancho Adventure Area, experimented with STEM concepts in Leo’s Learning Lab, learned about measurement in our traveling Measurement Rules exhibit, got messy at Mess Fest, and so much more. New opportunities for learning and play weren’t limited to the museum, either – our mobile Van Go! program relaunched in January to bring SCM to over 30 local classrooms, and our outreach team brought educational experiences to countless community events.  It’s all part of making learning through play accessible to all children in the Sacramento region.

With the addition of new play and learning experiences came an additional effort to be accessible to all children and families. As part of this effort, 2023 saw the addition of two membership levels specially designed for foster and EBT-receiving families, a continuation of the Museums for All and Blue Star programs, and the relaunch of our partnership with the Sacramento Public Library’s Discover & Go program to provide free passes. No family should ever be priced out of learning through play!

Our Museum is where I bring my own family to play and it's important that it is accessible to all children. Thank you for your investment in the museum's present and our future!
