FREE MUSIC INSTRUMENT LOCKER:

MusicLandria is thrilled to introduce the first-of-its-kind free Music Instrument Locker in Sacramento. Operating our "Take What You Need, Leave What You Can" model fosters a sense of community support and mutual aid. Instruments are sourced through donations from individuals, music instrument manufacturers, and community partners, ensuring a diverse selection catering to various musical interests and skill levels.

Currently, participants can access the locker by appointment only, where they can browse for and take home musical instruments and equipment at no cost. They can always return an instrument and try something new once they no longer need them, allowing others to also benefit. Additionally, individuals who can afford to contribute are invited to donate instruments or funds to sustain the program. By embracing this collaborative approach, our program not only provides access to musical instruments for those in need but also cultivates a culture of sharing and generosity within our community. A suggested limit of 2 instruments per person, per month, helps ensure we can maximize the number of people served and sustain the program.

MUSICIAN’S MAKERSPACE:

MusicLandria is also thrilled to introduce the first-of-its-kind Musician’s MakerSpace program in Sacramento, offering a unique and innovative platform for aspiring musicians. Imagine a gym for musicians, but instead of treadmills and pull-up bars, musicians can access a state of the art workshop to practice and exercise their musical skills. The program features cutting-edge equipment, providing unparalleled opportunities for creativity and skill development. The MakerSpace consists of multiple stations, where musicians write songs, compose for film, make video game music, record in real time and collaborate with other local musicians. The Musician’s MakerSpace is a haven for musicians of all genres and skill levels.

STATEMENT OF NEED:

In the 10 years since MusicLandria’s launch, our growth and transformational community impact has exceeded my expectations and been awe inspiring for me. We have learned from our risks and partnerships and have continuously adapted and expanded programming to respond to the unique needs of the greater Sacramento community. We draw on the passion and expertise of Sacramento’s rich, robust music scene and provide several access points for underserved community members to find or foster their love for creative expression.

We have outgrown our current location and are looking to secure a larger space for our programmatic growth. We are dedicating 2024 to finding a new home for MusicLandria. We have hundreds of music instruments in our locker, but we do not have enough space to properly display them, re-house them and accept new donations. We currently have 60 musicians on the Musician’s MakerSpace wait list.

Our capacity to meet demand is constrained, hindering our ability to serve the community fully. With limited space, we’ve had to turn away donations and our hours are drastically reduced.

IMPACT OF A $100,000:

Our actual fundraising goal for the year $100,000 or a donated building/ lot. $100,000 or a donated building /lot would allow MusicLandria to secure a permanent space for our programs. Because our current constraints are the result of limited space, this grant would revolutionize MusicLandria's capacity. We’ll be able to increase our weekly service hours by 50%, increase our public and corporate support by 20%, and increase instrument donations by 30%. This grant will also allow us to acquire a more diverse range of instruments and reach more individuals in need. By utilizing the $100,000 grant to secure a space to expand our free Music Instrument Locker and Musician’s MakerSpace, we directly address the core tenets of our mission; we empower individuals to explore their musical passions, regardless of financial barriers.
